Vermonter - Amtrak
Randolph is a train station in Randolph, Vermont, served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. The only train that serves the station is the Vermonter, which operates between St. Albans, Vermont and Washington, D.C.[1] The station also doubles as a local restaurant, and on the other side of the tracks is the Randolph Stagecoach Transportation depot, essentially creating an unofficial intermodel transportation center, although schedules are not aligned in any way. On average, five passengers boarded or detrained Amtrak services daily at Randolph in FY09, making it the 10th-busiest stop in Vermont. |

The little caboose that could help draw tourists to Park Forest
All eyes were on the bright reddish-orange caboose Tuesday as it made its final trip from Joliet to the Matteson rail yard, pulled by Engine 4610. Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway caboose No. 531 — built in December 1953 — must have passed through the south suburbs many times in its active life, so perhaps it is fitting that it will spend its retirement in the area, in a new Rail Fan Park in Park ... |
