October 25 2011 - President Jimmy Carter reads to children before train ride with Thomas Tank
President Jimmy Carter read to a group of some 200 Sumter County school children at the Plains Depot Friday afternoon, including his two great-grandsons, Thomas and Henry Carter, of Atlanta. The former president then invited all the children to ride the SAM Shortline train, pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine, to Archery, where he lived growing up.
