Dyer, 53, was the driver of the vehicle that collided with a Norfolk Southern Railway train on Hieber Road Saturday at 3:18 p.m. Dyer was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. |
May 06 2012 - Mile Marker: Columbus Depot's Clock Columbus, south of Deming, owes its existence to the El Paso & Southwestern Railroad, which transported copper ore from Douglas, Ariz. to smelters in El Paso in the late 1800s. The town was a coaling and water station for trains and a place where people could ship cattle and receive merchandise. The depot was perhaps the busiest building in town. |
