BUCYRUS -- A Nevada woman died Monday from injuries sustained in a car-train crash Saturday. June L. Dyer, 53, was the driver of the vehicle that collided with a Norfolk Southern Railway train on Hieber Road Saturday at 3:18 p.m. Dyer was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Columbus, south of Deming, owes its existence to the El Paso & Southwestern Railroad, which transported copper ore from Douglas, Ariz. to smelters in El Paso in the late 1800s.
