The Monitor: Steel railroad track sections stolen
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of 25 pieces of steel railroad track belonging to PennDOT and used as sewer grate covers from a site on Rocky Mountain and District roads in Guilford Township between 3 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information should call police at 264-5161. |

Amtrak suspends New York-Boston service due to tree falling on wire
Amtrak suspended its service between New York and Boston this morning after a tree fell onto the overhead wire system in Connecticut, the train service said. GUILFORD TOWNSHIP, Tuesday, Sept. 13 -- Country and Kriner roads were closed briefly Tuesday morning after a reported suspicious package was found taped to the underside of a train trailer at the CSX Railroad Yard. The package was determined to be harmless, Chambersburg police said. |

PennDOT Engineering District 8 today announced a bridge closure July 12 on the Route 316 bridge over the CSX railroad tracks between Chambersburg Borough and the Village of New Franklin in Guilford Township, Franklin County. Guilford Township railroad bridge to close for construction
The Wayne Road (Pa. 316) railroad bridge in Guilford Township is to close this month. The start date has been postponed twice as the contractor coordinates the work with the railroad, according to Michael Crochunis, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. |
