RIPLEY, Ohio | Before the Civil War, Ripley was a mecca for abolitionists and runaway slaves. Now it is a pilgrimage spot for visitors in search of Underground Railroad sites, and this month the library was recognized as a site on the National Underground Railroad Network of Freedom, according to a NURNF spokes person.
