Lawton's Hot Springs heyday lasted 80 years
In 1884, Samuel “Sumner” and Nancy O’Neil Laughton bought 320 acres of land about five miles west of Reno along the Truckee River from the Central Pacific Railroad for $1,040. Because the hot springs on their land attracted so many people, they decided to develop a health resort. |
