Alabama, “the heart of Dixie” or “the Yellowhammer state” is located in the southeastern region of the United States of America. It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west.
For rail transport, Amtrak schedules the Crescent, a daily passenger train, running from New York to New Orleans with stops at Anniston, Birmingham, and Tuscaloosa.

January 11 2012 - Coroner: Alcohol a "major factor" in fiery crash Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has confirmed to WLOX.com that "alcohol played a major factor" in the train-car collision that killed Brian Little. Hargrove would not say just how much alcohol was found in the 29-year-old Mobile, Alabama man's system.
